During a truly remarkable journey, Jeremy Gilley, peace activist, secured international support and agreement from UN Member States in 2001, to adopt a resolution to observe the International Day of Peace on a fixed day every year – 21st September. Since then his Peace One Day organisation works to raise awareness of the International Day of Peace and encourages people from all over the world to mark the Day.
Inspired by Jeremy Gilley’s personal drive and determination through his Peace One Day organisation, coupled with our desire to contribute to reconciliation and a sustainable peace, Springboard launched a local campaign to increase public and civic observance of this international day of ceasefire and non-violence. |
